The director of music conducts the church choir

Sanctuary Choir Updates and Announcements

August 12, 2021

from Director of Music, Elizabeth Kluegel Niblock

I am thrilled to tell you about our upcoming return to choir rehearsals IN PERSON beginning Thursday, September 16 from 7:30-9:15 p.m. I know we’re very excited for this rehearsal, probably more so than ever before. I wanted to fill you in on a few things that will be important to note about our upcoming rehearsals and singing for worship. We are following the guidelines of the Re-opening Task Force and Church Council, and have the support of the Music Committee in our efforts to return to singing in person.

Here are some of the requirements and plans:

1. Rock Spring does not want to discourage anyone from coming to a church event based on their vaccination status. However, as we all know, singing is considered a “super spreader” activity, and it would be difficult to keep safety as our number one priority if we have unvaccinated singers at rehearsals. This being said, we welcome fully vaccinated adult singers to join us for the Sanctuary Choir.

2. We will begin rehearsals fully masked. I have recently found out about a sort of cage or frame that can be easily clipped onto a cloth, surgical, or almost any other type of mask you might have. The cost of these is quite low (around $5/piece) and creates a safe barrier for singers. I will order them in bulk and provide them, but we welcome donations of $5 from those able to do so. Donations will go to the music budget. The best news about these frames is they are made of recycled plastic from the ocean (4ocean). Of course if you already have a singer’s mask or a preferred singing mask, please feel free to bring that, as well.

3. The Choir Picnic! We will be having a meet-and-greet and welcome back picnic on Saturday, September 11 at 5:00 p.m. hosted by Lorie Brush and Bob Harris. Please
email me if you are interested in attending.

4. Stay tuned for more updates as our plans continue to develop!

Feel free to reach out to with questions and/or for more info.
