Rock Spring Recital Series
As always, these concerts are open to all, and we ask for your support to keep these wonderful concerts alive. Bring a friend or neighbor to hear professional concerts in the fantastic acoustics of the Sanctuary of Rock Spring!
“Jazz in January” – organ and saxophone jazz with Carter Stevens & Nick Natalie
Rescheduled - date TBD
Ed and Elizabeth were fortunate to hear this duo at a concert of the Washington DC chapter of the American Guild of Organists. One Rock Spring music lover in attendance enthusiastically came to Elizabeth and said, “Let’s get them for Jazz in January next year!” So here they are! Please come and enjoy this really unique duo for a great afternoon of jazz.
“Karen Builds a Violin” – kiddie concert
February 9, 10:30 a.m.
Once again, we welcome back two fine classical musicians who have a love bringing their instruments to young people. This program has been brought to elementary schools throughout the DMV, and we are thrilled to have them back. Please bring your children, grandchildren, or just yourself to this approximately 30-40 minute children’s program. It’s good for ALL ages!
The Army String Quartet, featuring members of the Army Band’s “Pershing’s Own”
February 10, 3:00 p.m.
If you happened to watch any of President George H.W. Bush’s funeral at the National Cathedral, you know what fine musicians we are fortunate to have in the Armed Forces. Even more fortunate, we are able to bring them to Rock Spring in a chamber music setting. Please come welcome them and thank them for providing their beautiful music.
Philippe Chao, viola and Carlos Rodriguez, piano
March 9, 10:30 a.m. and March 10, 3:00 p.m.
Philippe and Carlos return to Rock Spring on Sunday March 10 to bring us some viola chamber music that is delightful and beautiful, though less frequently performed. They bring young musicians with them for their Saturday morning “kiddie concert” with the hope of inspiring all ages to become string players.
