Racial Equity Action Group for Criminal Justice

March 25, 2022

On Tuesday evening, March 29,  at 7pm Mustafa Saboor and Philippe Simon, Associate Directors at Offender Aid and Restoration, will discuss (on Zoom) OAR’s mission and the services they offer to those incarcerated and returning home from incarceration.

Mustafa is the Director of Pre-release Services, designs and presents curriculum, and oversees OAR programming at three northern Virginia correctional facilities. He is a Reentry Coach and has focused on racial justice.  Mustafa, who spent 17 years in the Virginia State prison system, has a passion for criminal justice reform and brings his lived experience of incarceration and reentry to his work at OAR. He co-facilitates a post-release support group and an anti-racism and liberation learning cohort for law enforcement officials and community members.

Phil focuses his work on OAR’s post-release reentry program.  He graduated from Battlefield HS in Haymarket and Virginia Tech (business management and finance) in Blacksburg, and considers himself fortunate to have found such meaningful employment.  Phil enjoys being a shoulder that those recently released can lean on to help them get a true second chance at life.  All are welcome to attend!
