XRock Spring & Covid-19:Important Updates for Worship and Church OperationsRead more

Church Campus and Offices are Now Closed- March 18, 2020

Greetings Rock Springers,

It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks, and while times like these may bring fear and anxiety, we may look to scripture for comfort.  In the Church Council meeting this week, our reflection referred to Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

We hope this letter finds you in a safe place, in good health and practicing the recommendations of our public health experts.  In this spirit, and in the interest of keeping our community safe, the Staff and Council have made the difficult decision to close the church buildings to all users through May 31st.  During this time, only essential activities will occur to maintain the facilities and church operations.  We will be re-evaluating this policy based on updates to public health guidance as the situation evolves, and will be re-communicating the status of church and facility operations every two weeks.

This has been a challenging couple of weeks for us all, and it appears that these challenges will continue for some time to come.  We are fortunate to have technology that enables us to maintain our community even in light of these challenges, and will continue to broadcast worship services at 11:00am on Sundays during this time.  Pastoral care will continue; however, Council has advised our Pastoral Staff to discontinue in-person visitation during this time. Please continue to reach out as needs arise, as they will continue in their practice of care for our community through phone, text, and other alternative methods.  We are setting up two care teams – one composed of people at low risk who can run errands for those at higher risk, and one to call and check-in on members of our community.  The card ministry will continue to deliver greetings.  Further, there are many ways that we can continue to be in fellowship with one another, through virtual meetings, phone calls, emails and text messages.  Look for creative ways to connect and participate in our community throughout this challenging time, as there will be much more to come in that regard.

We will continue to update you every two weeks, and look forward to joining you virtually on Sundays.

Thank you all for making Rock Spring such a wonderful community to be a part of.  Stay safe, and stay connected.

Sincerely,

Chris Keefer & Vince Meehan

Rock Spring UCC Council Chair and Vice Chair
