Emmitt Louis Till was a 14-year-old African American boy who was abducted, tortured, and lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in her family’s grocery store. The movie focuses on his mother, Mamie Till, who was able to channel the grief from her loss into a life of advocacy for civil rights. Join us to watch the movie (run time: 2 hours 10 minutes) on January 4, or stream it at home at your convenience, then join the discussion on January 8.
