Discussion, Sunday, January 8, 7:00 p.m. Upper Neighborhood House
Emmitt Louis Till was a 14-year-old African American boy who was abducted, tortured, and lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in her family’s grocery store. The movie focuses on his mother, Mamie Till, who was able to channel the grief from her loss into a life of advocacy for civil rights. Whether you joined the “Watch Party” last week or streamed the movie at home, join us for a discussion of the movie and the issues it raises.
