Getting Involved in Civil Rights Advocacy: the Developmental Disability Community Perspective (via Zoom)

Date:
February 21, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm

Sunday, February 21 at 12:00 p.m.

Zoom Link: http://bit.ly/ARCadvocacy

Join Lucy Beadnell, Director of Advocacy for the Arc of Northern Virginia, for a conversation on how to  advocate for those with differing abilities. Learn how people with developmental disabilities have been battling for civil rights, for a community-based life, and for “a life like yours.” And learn ways to speak to these issues and amplify the voices of those who may not be able to “speak”. This will include criminal justice work, the Americans with Disabilities Act, funding for community living arrangements with staff support, and how you can get involved as an advocate.
