AHOD/GAP Stream Clean Up
Sunday, October 11 (Shift 1, 1:00-2:30 p.m. / Shift 2, 2:30-4:00 p.m.)
Bluemont Park Picnic Pavilion (park at N Manchester St and 4th St N, Arlington, VA 22203
Gather in Bluemont Park for our 3rd annual stream cleanup sponsored by the Green Accelerator Project (GAP) and led by our partner EcoAction Arlington (EAA). Join us as we work to make Four-Mile Run habitable for the small critters whose survival we support. Even during this pandemic, with care we can enjoy a fall afternoon outdoors and support clean waters in our community.
Safety is our priority — sign-up is required. We will form 1-3 teams, each with maximum size of 10 people, at each of the two starting times. This event will follow protocols established by EcoAction Arlington and those established by the Rock Spring Council for church events. In particular, we will wear masks and practice social distancing. Bring your own gloves and avoid tool-sharing. You’ll want to wear boots (if you plan to wade in the stream) or closed-toed shoes, long sleeve shirts, and pants. Bring your own water bottle, and don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray! Note: Participants will need to accept the EcoAction Arlington Volunteer Assumption of Risk, Waiver of Liability, and COVID-19 Agreement. If dangerous weather is forecast, we will need to cancel the event; however, we can work in a light rain.
To sign up, fill out this form https://forms.gle/ap1S7eADKy3uRZQF8 or call or email Laura Watchman (703-538-2645 or laurawatchman@gmail.com) specifying how many people you are registering for and your preferred time slot.
