Faith + Life
When: Sundays in November and December
Where: Hunter Room 205 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
Join us in November for our next two modules:
November 3 & 10: Faith and American Politics
Regardless of what your political views are or where you are in your spiritual journey, we invite you to participate in a 2-week civil discourse around the current political issues facing our country and how various groups might view them from their unique perspectives. We will also look at the intersection of faith and politics in your own life. Facilitated by Dale Dwyer & Phil Shull.
November 17-December 8: Spiritual Practices
The holidays can be a time of heightened anxiety. Join Lorie Brush to learn how mindfulness techniques can help to soothe anxieties and keep us grounded in the spirit of the season. Each workshop session will explore different techniques.
On November 17, the workshop will involve two techniques: visualization exercises that can be used to reduce stress and pain as well as relax us into sleep; and using the Calm App, which provides new options each day for relaxing readings, music, and stories that are designed to help listeners sleep.
On November 24, we’ll talk about the positive effects of expressing gratitude, including journaling each day about the things we’re thankful for; and about the importance of prayer.
On December 1, we’ll join together in a series of slow physical exercises to relax the body and the mind.
Finally, on December 8, the session will provide the opportunity to walk Rock Spring’s labyrinth and, potentially, find an answer to a niggling question.
