This message is for anyone who is a parent, is planning to be a parent, or who had parents. One of the many, many jobs of a parent is to make a home for our families. The home needs to be a place where we’re all comfortable, where we feel safe, where there’s good food; a place where we can be with friends and family, and where we can be ourselves. We’ve been very lucky to have two homes, and Rock Spring is one of them. Certainly it’s a place where we feel comfortable and safe – our son Conor feels just as comfortable down in the library as he does up in the big tree outside! Rock Spring is full of friends and family, too, and it’s a good place to express ourselves, and be who we are. Parents know that it takes work and money to make a home. That’s why when Joe and I received our annual pledge card in the mail this week, we began our annual conversation about how much more we can pledge to Rock Spring. It’s a conversation that I look forward to – it gives us a chance to think and talk about all the things that Rock Spring means to us, and to realize how very important Rock Spring is to our family, how much of a home it really is. We have always pledged to Rock Spring, because we know that this home is as important to us as our other home. I hope that you will take this opportunity to have a conversation with your spouse, or partner (or with your mirror) and think of all the ways in which Rock Spring is a home for you, too. And I hope that you’ll make a pledge this year that shows just how much Rock Spring means to you.
