Alliance for Housing Solutions:
The mission of the Alliance for Housing Solutions (AHS) is to develop and make the case for increasing the supply of housing that is affordable in Arlington. The AHS engages in policy development projects and public education to generate innovative options and public support for efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing in Arlington and Northern Virginia. We believe that people of all economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds—including working families with children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities— should have access to affordable, safe, and decent housing. We also believe that to be an effective community, it is important that public employees including, for example, teachers, police and other County employees—have strong ties in the communities they serve. Living within the community is an important aspect of building such ties.
AHS has adopted the following long-term goals:
Greater public understanding and support of affordable housing initiatives,
County adoption of new major approaches to the affordable housing crises based on best practices in other communities,
No further losses in market rate and committed affordable housing units,
A ten percent increase in the number of family-size affordable housing
units in Arlington, and
Effective working relationships with interested parties in other Northern
Virginia jurisdictions.

Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH):
As the housing market continues to tighten in Northern Virginia, especially Arlington, individuals with modest incomes are being displaced from their homes in growing numbers. Teachers, police officers, firefighters and County employees are among those who can no longer afford the high price of living in Arlington County. This growing problem threatens the cultural and economic diversity that has long been the fabric of our community.
The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) is dedicated to strengthening Arlington County by addressing this affordable housing need. Founded in 1989, APAH is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) that provides safe, affordable housing opportunities to low- and moderate-income families and individuals in Arlington County. APAH purchases and renovates apartment buildings to preserve them as affordable housing, improve the condition of the properties and enhance the neighborhoods in which APAH properties are located.

Buyers and Renters Arlington Voice (BRAVO):
As a tenant advocacy organization, BRAVO offers the following programs:
Tenant Organization: BRAVO does direct, door to door outreach into rental communities, offering information about tenant rights. We also assist tenants in the creation of Tenant Associations.
Housing Literacy: In supportive adult learning environments, Arlington tenants are introduced to the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, and other laws and regulations that govern the tenant-landlord relationship.
Intervention/Mediation: Through one on one counseling or working with tenant groups or associations, BRAVO staff assists tenants in communicating with landlords or management companies concerning maintenance, leasing, services, landlord harassment or other problems related to the tenant/landlord relationship.
Relocation Program Oversight: Tenant displacement is sometimes mitigated by a relocation plan. BRAVO does outreach in the affected communities, seeking to protect tenants’ rights and to avoid or minimize the impact of displacement.
