Everyone is Welcome Here

Ministries and Programs

The following is a list of additional groups, ministries, projects, programs within the Rock Spring community:

20’s/30’s Group

In early 2004 someone thought it would be great fun if our Rock Spring 20s/30s got together about once a month to do something fun. All Rock Spring members and friends in their 20s and 30s are welcome to attend. We also encourage you to bring along your friends; they don’t have to be affiliated with Rock Spring to join us.

We don’t have a regular meeting time. Events are organized by members of the group. If you have an idea for an event, all you have to do is plan the event and send out an E-vite (www.evite.com) to the group. Recent activities organized and hosted by our members include: After-Church Potluck Backyard Barbeque, Photo Scavenger Hunt in Old Town Alexandria, Wii Party and a lunch at a local restaurant. In the past we’ve gone bowling and miniature golfing and we also work together to attend all-church events like JFFAL’s Annual Picnic.

If you’re interested in learning more about Rock Spring 20s/30s, email us at 20s30s@rockspringucc.org. Our communication is primarily via email, so it’s important that we have your email address. We look forward to getting to know you.

JFFAL

The acronym stands for “Just For Fun and Laughter.” One of the most unique groups Rock Spring has to offer. These ladies and gentleman get together for fun events through out the year. In the summer they’ll catch a musical at Wolf Trap, or go to a concert.

Springtime, however, is when JFFAL hosts its most popular event: The progressive dinner. Over 100 usually people participate. The evening starts with with cocktails at one home, appetizers at another, the main course at another and dessert at the church.

UP AND COMING JFFAL EVENTS
JFFAL All Church Picnic: September 6th, 4 pm to 7 pm
This year it will be in Falls Church, so please save the date!

Free Yoga Classes at Rock Spring

Rock Spring is pleased to host free yoga classes! Hatha yoga is an invitation to move the body, deepen the breath and quiet the mind. Yoga is not a religious practice but can provide a venue for individual spiritual connection and an opportunity to retreat from the business of everyday life.

Classes are open to all, regardless of age, physical ability or experience with yoga. Classes will be focused at the beginner level and options and variations will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a towel or mat and wear comfortable clothing. Classes will be held each Sunday throughout the Summer from 12:30-1:30 pm in the Saegmuller Room. Session began on June 28th.

Registration is not required and participants may begin at any time. Questions? Contact Leigh Ann Slonka at LSlonka@hotmail.com.
