March for equality to the Capitol building on Sunday, October 11
On October 11, people from across America will gather in Washington DC to let our elected leaders know that now is the time for full equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The National Equality March, 2.3 miles in total, will begin on 15th Street between “I” and “M” Streets (Metro stops close by are at McPherson Square, Farragut West – both Blue and Orange Lines, and Farragut North – Red Line) at 12:00 noon and end at approximately 2 pm on the west lawn of the Capitol building. The National Equality March Rally will follow the march immediately afterward.
A group of us from Rock Spring will be marching and plan to leave together after the 9 o’clock service. We will be gathering at 10:45 a.m. in front of the church, near the shuttle bus stop. If you are interested in marching (and especially if you would like to car pool), please email socialaction@rockspringucc.org or speak to Charles Spencer.
